First and foremost, I know it can be difficult to make the decision to start therapy. I feel honored to do this work and humbled by my clients’ courageousness in engaging in this process. Therapy is meant to be an empowering, reflective, and contained experience of healing and personal growth. The therapeutic process entails significant effort on the part of the client in order to have the most impact. I will be there to support you and offer you tools along the way.
I practice from a humanistic, strengths-based, solution-focused model as well as a psychodynamic perspective. My approach is holistic, anti-oppressive, authentic, nurturing, and eclectic. I use various therapeutic methods related to the diagnosis and treatment of psychological problems, especially in the provision of person-centered care, LGBTQ2SAI+ affirmative practices, trauma-informed care, and mental health recovery.
I have an extensive and practical understanding of the deep and intimate connections of our past experiences and relationships and the way they affect us now. Together, we will work to identify and address these affects—both positive and negative.
I have advanced training and much experience in working with such modalities as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Harm Reduction, Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Mindfulness, Crisis Counselling, and biopsychosocial diagnostic assessment.
